Ethan has started crawling a little - lots of scooching and a little real crawling. He has also been loving peas and singing!

Fall Fun!
Ethan's First Notre Dame Game!
Two weeks ago we took Ethan to South Bend for the Notre Dame-Michigan football game. Yes, this is the day each year that Mark & I commit to strongly disliking one another... Thankfully, after two years of being pounded, Notre Dame was victorious. The last time ND won was on our honeymoon (yes, we got up at 5:45am Hawaii time to watch the game). We've been to the game each year since we met. After seeing the sights around campus, our good friends Zach & Rebecca met us at the stadium and took Ethan to their house to babysit while we went to the game. We owe them a day of babysitting once their little one arrives! Check out the pictures at the following link...

Ethan's First UM Game
Saturday we took Ethan to the UM-Utah game. Grandma & Grandpa K met us to tailgate and then took Ethan to their house while Mark & I went to the game (they charge full price for an infant to attend the game plus it was really hot!). Ethan will be dressed in ND attire soon so ND fans don't worry!

Family Resemblance?
People are always commenting on how Ethan looks just like Sarah or just like Mark so we figured we’d post some baby pictures and let you decide if he belongs to either of us. These pictures of me (Sarah) include a great look at my Dad’s 1977 hair and how laws have changed from 1977 (though my Mom insists I did go home from the hospital in a car seat…). Soon we’ll post one of Mark – you decide!

Shampoo Rinse Cup
The Shampoo Rinse Cup is the first baby item that has dual uses for adults. Why you ask? Mark broke his arm yesterday in a mountain bike accident (he flew over the handlebars) and the shampoo rinse cup was invaluable in him washing his hair with only one arm. We knew it would come in handy! So far Mark is hanging in there - we'll hear back from the orthopedic surgeon today or Monday to see if he needs additional treatment. The doctor last night was hopeful for a quick recovery with no survery so we're praying that's the case!

Catching Up
We can't believe that Ethan is now two months old (even had his first vaccinations at the doctor's office yesterday)! It's been an adventurous month and here are our highlights...
June 28 - Wedding for a high school friend of Sarah's - Ethan's first tuxedo!
July 3 - First trip to the zoo with Nicky & Alex and first time in Grandma Bouma's pool!
July 6 - First flight - Kalamazoo to Fairbanks, Alaska for Uncle Mike's wedding
July 12 - Sarah's brother Mike marries Laura!!
July 15 - Whale watching in Prince William Sound
July 19 - Back in Michigan!!
We'll post some pictures in the near future - our camera broke and we got a new one yesterday and I haven't transferred pictures! Ethan is doing a great job, sleeping from about 10:30pm-6:30 am each night! He usually takes one good nap and a few additional cat naps throughout the day. He is making us laugh with lots of smiles, tounge sticking out, and even laughing!

Ethan's Adventures
Ethan has had a big few weeks - from his Uncle Mike's wedding celebration to a 5K walk/run to the zoo (yes, he loved the animals despite sleeping through 99% of the day) and more! With all the excitement we've hardly had time to rest let alone tell the world about our adventures. Ethan has now met almost all of his extended family including his two great-grandmas - we'll post pictures soon. We continue to adjust to daily life and Ethan has decided that he does enjoy bath time. This picture is after a bath earlier this week.
Our big trip to Alaska is coming up soon - Ethan & Mom leave next Sunday and Dad follows on Thursday. Ethan's tux is ready to go and we keep telling him that he can't steal the show from his Aunt Laura too much!

Our Chunky Monkey!
Today was Ethan's two week doctor's visit. He did a great job; however, it's still a bit stressful from Mom's perspective. Talking to the doctor trying to ask questions while your child is getting over the pokes and exam and not too happy definitely raises the stress level! Ethan is healthy, happy, and eating well. How well you might ask? Two weeks ago, he was 7 lb. 11 oz. Today he weighs in at a hefty 9 lb 15.5 oz (90th percentile for weight - no wonder the newborn diapers aren't fitting any more and he poops right out the back of them!). He is also 22.5 inches, putting him in the 95th-97th percentile for height (yes, Dad is beyond pleased). We'll have to find a picture that shows off the second chin he grew in the last week.
In other news, Ethan has decided that he loves the front carrier - whether it's taking walks, vaccuming, or walking up and down (and up and down) the stairs. If you want a workout, swing by between 4 and 8 pm - the hours requiring constant movement!

Ethan's First Photo Shoot
Monday, June 2nd was a big day for Ethan. He had his first photo shoot with Ellen Dykstra who does newborn photography. She came to the house and set up shop in the nook - lights, cameras, and backdrops! Ethan did a great job for about 3 1/2 of the 4 1/2 hours. If you'd like to see some of the preview pictures, check out Ellen's blog - http://www.ellendykstraphotography.com/ and click on the "blog" link. Ethan is "Mr. E" and is the first four photos. We'll post the complete link when it is ready! Here's one photo from Ellen - it's our favorite!
